ST. LOUIS — St. Louis-style pizza company Imo's Pizza is celebrating its 60th anniversary with a special pizza box and specials.
Imo's Pizza will offer a variety of specials throughout the year to celebrate the anniversary. The first special is a two-topping, 16-inch pizza for $19.64, the same year the company was founded.
St. Louis artist Dan Zettwoch has also created a commemorative pizza box to honor the company's beginnings.
“As I was researching this project, I loved making connections about the contemporary mid-60s history and design in St. Louis,” Zettwoch said in a press release. “As Imo’s was opening its first location, the Cardinals won the World Series and had their last season in Sportsman’s Park as Busch Stadium II was being built. At the same time, the Arch was under construction, forever changing the St. Louis skyline. Imo’s is a part of our city’s rich history, and I was honored to create a box for my favorite pizza!”
Ed and Margie Imo opened their first pizza parlor in 1964 at the coroner of Thurman Avenue and Shaw Boulevard in south St. Louis. In 2024, there are 98 locations across Missouri, Illinois and Kansas.
Imo's Pizza is known for its thin-crust, Provel-covered, square-cut pies that have become a St. Louis staple.
