NEW ORLEANS — Sugarfire Smoke House has to make a little more room on the award shelf. The chef from the famous St. Louis barbecue spot won ninth place at the World Food Championships.
Chef David Molina earned his spot at the table last November when he cooked up a first place finish in the World Sandwich Championship last November. He won $10,000 plus the chance to compete against nine other food category winners.
The 10 finalists competed a couple weeks ago at the World Food Championships in New Orleans. The final challenge was to whip up a Creole-inspired eggs benedict dish.
After all the tastings were done and the votes were in, Molina placed ninth in the competition.
Molina won an extra $500.
You’ll be able to see him and the other competitors in action in a special one-hour TV program, ‘The Final Table: New Orleans.’ It’s set to air Aug. 24 on CNBC.
