The 2027 NCAA DI Wrestling Championships will be in St. Louis

$20 million of economic gain may be heading to the region all because of high-profile NCAA events.

ST. LOUIS — Come 2027, the NCAA Di Wrestling will crown the championship winner in St. Louis, according to a press release from the St. Louis Sports Commission on Wednesday.

The announcement came after an NCAA championship bidding process for all sports for the 2026-2027 and 2027-2028 academic years.

“It’s a huge win for Downtown St. Louis and for our region to secure one of the NCAA’s highest-profile and most impactful events,” said St. Louis Sports Commission President Marc Schreiber. “This does not happen without the investment that has been made to improve Enterprise Center and the presence and support of outstanding partners, including the Blues and University of Missouri, which we are grateful to have as our co-host.”

The press release said that 17,000 fans come to these perennial sporting events and 330 wrestlers participate.

The Enterprise Center has been renovated since the 2021 NCAA competition in St. Louis and will be better equipped for this sporting event, according to the press release.

“We love the energy and excitement that NCAA Championships bring to our region,” said St. Louis Blues and Enterprise Center President and CEO Chris Zimmerman.

$20 million of economic gain may be heading to the region all because of high-profile NCAA events, the press release said. St. Louis is ready to be the place where the 2025 Men’s Frozen Four and 2026 DI Men’s Basketball first and second rounds are hosted, according to the St. Louis Sports Commission.

“When St. Louis comes together like this, we can make great things happen and deliver meaningful wins to our community like we celebrate today,” Schreiber said.

“I know St. Louis takes pride in hosting NCAA championship events as they have in the past with hockey, gymnastics, basketball, and of course wrestling," said University of Missouri Wrestling Coach Brian Smith. "St. Louis has always produced the wrestling championships at the highest level because of the commitment from the St. Louis Blues, Enterprise Center, the Sports Commission, Mizzou, and the great people of St. Louis."
