These St. Louis-area pools are hosting end-of-summer dog swim events

St. Louis-area swimming pools are wrapping up the 2024 season with events that give pups a chance to take a plunge.

ST. LOUIS — The dog days of summer are over, which means the end of the swim season at St. Louis-area pools and aquatic centers is also swiftly approaching.

Many pools are celebrating the end of the season by giving pups a chance to take a plunge.

Here's where you can bring your dog for a day of fun in the sun.

Arnold, Missouri

The Arnold Recreation Center, located at 1695 Missouri State Road #2004, is hosting its annual Pooch Plunge on Saturday, Sept. 7 at its outdoor pool.

  • Small dogs (under 35 pounds) will swim from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
  • Large dogs (over 35 pounds) will swim from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.

Admission is $11 per dog and includes one human. Each additional human is $3.

Ballwin, Missouri

The annual North Pointe Dog Swim will take place from 4:30-6 p.m. and 6:15-7 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 3 at the North Pointe Aquatic Center, 335 Holloway Road. All dogs with current vaccinations are welcome. 

Admission is $10 per dog, and only two humans are allowed per dog.

Bridgeton, Missouri

The Bridgeton Crossing Family Aquatic Park, located at 4201 Fee Fee Road, is closing its pool to humans after Labor Day, but furry friends are invited to the annual Dog Swim from 1-3 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 7.

Proof of rabies and DHLPP vaccination is required for each dog.

Admission is $10 per dog if you preregister (call 314-739-5599). Admission is $15 at the gate. Humans get in for free with their dog's paid admission.

Chesterfield, Missouri

The Chesterfield Family Aquatic Center, 16365 Lydia Hill Drive, will host a K9 Splash from 5-7 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 3.

Admission is $10 per dog and $3 per person. Kids under 2 get in free.

Two dogs are allowed per family, and you must bring your dog's most recent vaccination records to participate. Puppies under 4 months old are not allowed. All dogs must be neutered or spayed.

Des Peres, Missouri

Dog Days of Summer returns Tuesday, Sept. 3 to The Lodge Outdoor Pool, 1050 Des Peres Road.

Admission is $10 per dog, and there are two sessions: 5:30-6:15 p.m. and 6:30-7:15 p.m.

Online registration is required and opens at noon on Sept. 3. Use the above links to register.

Ellisville, Missouri

The EDGE Aquatic Center, located at 225 Kiefer Creek Road, is holding two Pooch Plunge events to end the summer season for dogs to swim, play and socialize.

  • 5-8 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 5
  • 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, Sept. 7

Admission is $3 per person and $7 per dog. Kids 2 and under get in for free.

Current rabies vaccination records are required for each dog, and handlers must be at least 18 years old and sign a liability waiver. Dogs must be at least 6 months old.

Eureka, Missouri

The Timbers of Eureka Pool, located at 1 Coffey Park Lane, invites dog owners to bring their furry friends for a Dog Splash Pool Party from 5-7 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 4.

Admission is $5 per dog, and up to two dogs are allowed per person. 

Proof of vaccinations is required. Humans aren't allowed to enter the pool with the dogs.

Hazelwood, Missouri

Tuesday, Sept. 3 is Dog Day at White Birch Bay Aquatic Center, located at 1186 Teson Road. The event goes from 6-8 p.m.

Dogs must be recently bathed, have a record of all shots, wear an ID tag, be on a leash when not in the water and be accompanied by an adult human at all times.

Admission is $5 per dog for residents and $10 per dog for nonresidents. Humans get in for free.

O'Fallon, Missouri

Alligator's Creek Aquatic Center, located at is hosting its annual Pool Paws Dog Swim event from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 7. There will also be raffles, games, vendors and dog trainers there to answer questions.

All dogs must be accompanied by an adult human and have proof of rabies vaccination.

Admission is $15. Extra humans can get in for $7. All proceeds from the event go to the Missouri Alliance for Animal Legislation.

Shrewsbury, Missouri

The Shrewsbury Aquatic Center, located at 7419 Sutherland Ave., is hosting its annual Drool at the Pool dog swim on Tuesday, Sept. 3.  A 5-6:30 p.m. session and a 6:45-8:15 p.m. session are available.

Owners must provide current shot records for their dogs. Humans can wade up to knee-deep, but swimming isn't allowed.

Registration for each session is $10 per dog for those who preregister and $15 for day-of registration. Limited walk-ups are available.

Washington, Missouri

The Agnes Nolting Aquatic Complex, located at 201 Aquatic Circle Drive, is hosting a Doggie Dip event from 6:30-7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 3.

All dogs must be on a leash while on the pool deck. Proof of vaccination and spay/neuter records are required.

Admission is $12 and includes one dog and one owner. It's $5 for each additional dog or owner.

To attend, register online by 3 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 29.

Wentzville, Missouri

The Splash Station Aquatic Center will host a Pooch Plunge at 5 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 3. Each dog will receive a snack and a have chance to win door prizes at the event.

All dogs must be leashed while out of the water. Proof of vaccination must be shown at the time of registration or emailed to Danny.Seelye@wentzvillemo.gov

Call 636-332-9236 to register. Register by Aug. 28 to be guaranteed a snack.
