Actress Jenifer Lewis earns spot on St. Louis Walk of Fame

The St. Louis native is being recognized for her roles in television, film and Broadway.

ST. LOUIS — Actress and St. Louis native Jenifer Lewis will be inducted into the St. Louis Walk of Fame for her contribution to the arts.

The induction ceremony will be on Saturday, July 13, at 6166 Delmar Blvd. in The Loop across from the Moonrise Hotel. A ragtime band will perform at 11 a.m. before the ceremony at 11:30 a.m.

"We're excited to add Jenifer Lewis to the St. Louis Walk of Fame," said Founder Joe Edwards. "She is known around the world for her accomplishments and she has made St. Louis proud."

Lewis' career spans more than 40 years across television, film and Broadway. Some of her most notable roles include the sitcom Black-ish where she played Ruby for 160 episodes and eight seasons, and Mama Odie in the Disney film The Princess and the Frog. Most recently, she appeared as Patricia in the show I Love That For You. She has also performed in more than 200 concerts worldwide.

In November 2022, Lewis published her second critically acclaimed book, "Walking in My Joy: These Streets" and was honored by the Congressional Black Caucus.

Lewis received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame on July 15, 2022. She was born and raised in Kinloch, Missouri.

The new inductee's star will join other notables including musicians Chuck Berry and Scott Joplin, actors Vincent Price and John Goodman, writers Maya Angelou and T.S. Eliot, sports greats Yogi Berra and Lou Brock and a host of others in the arts, science, sports, music and more.
