Band's music video filmed in Belleville released on day of concert's announcement

The contemporary rock band thanked Belleville and the city clerk's office at the end of the video.

BELLEVILLE, Ill. — Just over a month after Nathaniel Rateliff and the Night Sweats filmed a music video in Belleville, Illinois, the band has released it along with news that they'll be back in the area soon.

The contemporary rock band released its music video for their song "Heartless" on Thursday during their announcement of a U.S. arena tour, including a stop at St. Louis' Chaifetz Arena on Oct. 30. Tickets for the tour will go on sale beginning on Friday, June 7 at 10 a.m.

Rateliff, who grew up in Hermann, Missouri, wanted the music video for Heartless to reflect the themes of his childhood and moving west from his Midwest hometown. He worked with director Kimberly Stuckwisch to make that vison a reality in the video.

"Growing up in an impoverished part of Kentuckiana I often found myself running away from my upbringing diving headfirst into books, studies, writing, and theater, all in search of a different life, a different dream," Stuckwisch said. "It was through the arts that I found and continue to find my freedom. In a lot of ways, I modeled our lead character (Kevin Kelley) after myself and am so thankful Nathaniel trusted me with such a personal note and important song for the world.”

The City of Belleville, the Belleville City Clerk's Office, and the residents of N 11th Street in Belleville were all given special thanks at the end of the music video. Watch it here:
