Chuck Berry turned 90 Tuesday, and he is giving himself a birthday present years in the making.

Berry, a rock-and-roll icon, announced his first album in nearly 40 years Tuesday to celebrate the 90th year of his incredible life.

The album, titled 'CHUCK', was recorded in various recording studios in the St. Louis Area. Supporting Berry is his longtime backing group, which includes two of his children; Charles Berry Jr. and Ingrid Berry. The group accompanied berry for more than 200 shows at Blueberry Hill.

“What an honor to be part of this new music,” Charles Berry Jr. said in a press release. “The St. Louis band, or as dad called us ‘The Blueberry Hill Band,’ fell right into the groove and followed his lead."

Berry said he is dedicating the album to Themetta Berry, his wife of 68 years.

“This record is dedicated to my beloved Toddy," Berry said in the press release. “My darlin’ I’m growing old! I’ve worked on this record for a long time. Now I can hang up my shoes!”

The album is primarily made up of new, original songs written, produced and performed by Berry. For more information and updates on the album and all things Chuck Berry, visit his website or follow him on Facebook.
