Waterloo native sent home on 'The Voice' Battle round Tuesday

Eli Ward performed alongside Jason Arcilla, with both hoping to keep their spot on coach Gwen Stefani's team.

WATERLOO, Ill. — Waterloo, Illinois, native Eli Ward was sent home during Tuesday night's Battle round on NBC's "The Voice."

The 21-year-old turned the chairs of coaches Reba McEntire and Gwen Stefani when he sang Lewis Capaldi's "Bruises" during Blind Auditions. He ultimately chose to join Team Gwen.

On Tuesday, Ward performed alongside Jason Arcilla, with both hoping to keep their spot on Stefani's team. Although it was a difficult decision, Stefani ultimately went with Arcilla.

5 On Your Side met up with Ward at a watch party when his audition aired earlier this month. He said Waterloo community has been so supportive of his musical journey, which began when he was 9-and-a-half years old.

"Getting to be in a big city, like Burbank, where everybody was super, super talented, was crazy, but then coming back home and seeing all the people that are rallying for you in your corner and it's really fun," Ward said.
