The concert series is meant to support the Nov. 18, 2018, release from the band "Tenacious D in Post-Apacalypto", which is an animated film hand-drawn by Jack Black with every character voiced by Black and Kyle Glass. Along with the film, the band also release a companion album.
Jack Black and Kyle Gass make up the Greatest Band in the World: Tenacious D. They started playing together in Kyle’s studio apt on Cochran Ave in Los Angeles. No one could have ever dreamed of where the band’s genius would take them, but take them it did... The band had a variety series on HBO that aired in 1999. Their self-titled album was released in the fall of 2001 with Epic Records and was quickly certified at gold-selling status, and has since been certified platinum.
