MARYLAND HEIGHTS, Mo. — The Who is going back on the road and the tour will wind through St. Louis.
The band made the announcement Monday morning about its 2019 North American “MOVING ON!” tour.
The Who will perform at Hollywood Casino Amphitheatre in Maryland Heights on Thursday, May 23. Tickets go on sale to the general public Friday, Jan. 18 at livenation.com.
“Roger [Daltrey] christened this tour MOVING ON! I love it. It is what both of us want to do. Move on, with new music, classic Who music, all performed in new and exciting ways. Taking risks, nothing to lose. Looking forward to seeing you all. Are you ready?" said lead guitarist Pete Townshend.
The tour won’t be just any other concert for the band. They’re set to share the stage with orchestras across the nation.
“Be aware Who fans! Just because it's The Who with an orchestra, in no way will it compromise the way Pete and I deliver our music. This will be full throttle Who with horns and bells on,” said Roger Daltrey.
The Who also will be releasing their first album featuring new songs in 13 years later this year.
Every pair of tickets bought online for the tour will come with a code for a CD copy of the new album when it's released.
The band also plans to donate $1 from each ticket sold for the MOVING ON! tour will benefit Teen Cancer America.
