It's a store that's hard to miss...a massive place packed with boots.
"As far as shear number of boots under one roof this is it," explains Randy Markel, the owner of Chuck's Boots.
It is 25,000 square feet of steel toes, round toes, square toes and pointed toes.
"When people walk in I wanted them to go wow if I can't find it here I'm not going to find it anywhere and that's pretty much what we have.
Randy Markel is the man behind all these western boots, work boots and motorcycle boots.
"I like to shop and I like the best selection and the best customer service and a fair price and that's what we built this on," he adds.
But he's not Chuck.
"My middle name is Charles so technically I am a chuck," he says.
At least, he's not the original Chuck.
"I used to sell boots to Chuck. He and I became great friends and back in 1997 he started asking me to buy the store. Every time he would ask me to buy the store and I'd turn him down he'd drop the price," he explains.
Finally in 1998 he decided to slip it on for size and he's owned the place every since, but never considered changing the name.
"No, no, it would not be the same. I was smart enough to know not to mess with perfection," Markel adds.
However, they have expanded five times and added the St. Peters store which is just as impressive. But here in Fenton it's Shawn Lane's job to know what's what.
"This is probably the most popular boot in the store," Lane says holding up a boot.
And then there's the most expensive boot, which costs $1,700.
"It has a lot of real swarovski crystals on it," Lane explains.
There are laser etched designs and boots that are embroidered, lizard boots and ostrich boots.
"These little quills are where the feathers were," Lane points out.
There's also alligator and eel, stingray and shark.
"And then you have probably one of the strangest looking things we have, It's fish," Lane explains.
And if you think that's odd, well then consider all of this the hats and helmets, belts, buckles, boots and blue jeans, is cataloged without a computer.
"We do not have a computer, we are old school, everything is written down," Markel says
Hey, if the boot fits and well if it doesn't another one certainly will at Chuck's Boots.
