Andy Samberg has been tapped to host the 67th primetime Emmy Awards, airing Sept. 20 on Fox.
Samberg, who stars in the network's Brooklyn Nine-Nine, will mark his first awards-hosting stint, though he has plenty of experience on live TV from his years on NBC's Saturday Night Live.
"Buckle your seat belts, Emmy viewers!," said Samberg, in a statement announcing his latest gig. "Like, in general you should buckle your seat belts in your car. In fact, even if you're not an Emmy viewer, you should buckle your seat belt. It can be dangerous on the road. Also, if you're not an Emmy viewer, you should strongly consider becoming one this year, because I'm hosting, and it's gonna be a wild ride. So buckle your seat belts."
Unlike other awards shows, the Emmys rotate each year among the four major networks, and the host is often picked from their stable of talent. Seth Meyers hosted NBC's telecast last year, and Neil Patrick Harris — then on How I Met Your Mother — hosted for CBS in 2013. Brooklyn has already been renewed for a third season.
