ST. LOUIS — The holidays are one of the most wonderful times of the year for a lot of people, but for some, it can be a difficult reminder of some of the things they lack. United Way’s 100 Neediest Cases program is meant to alleviate the anguish that a lot of our neighbors are feeling during the holiday season.
For generations, 100 Neediest Cases has helped thousands of families and individuals during the holidays throughout the St. Louis region. The 100 Neediest Cases tradition began in the 1920s when the Christmas festival provided dinner and toys for those in need. United Way of Greater St. Louis and began partnering with the 100 Neediest Cases campaign in 1954. Each year, the St. Louis Post-Dispatch features 100 cases in their newspaper to promote adoption and donations.
The marketing and communications department at United Way adopted a family as part of 100 Neediest Cases, and for Show Me St. Louis' Giving Week, I stopped by their gift wrapping party!
