Alton Marquette and Althoff high schools 'Tackle Hunger' for Operation Food Search

While people cannot donate food items for Tackle Hunger at the Friday night football games, you can drop items off at any area Neighbors Credit Union.

ST. LOUIS — For Tackle Hunger this week, 5 On Your Side is going to metro-east for "Clash of the Catholics". It's Alton Marquette vs Althoff.

At Alton Marquette, here is what students and staff have collected for Operation Food Search, despite the fact that it's a short week, students say they collected money to buy canned good during lunch periods and allowed donated food to be used for admission to volleyball games.

"I know we posted a lot of the Instagrams and the Facebooks just to get as many canned goods as we possibly could," Grace Stoverink, Alton Marquette Senior said.

Meanwhile, at Althoff in Bellville, students Drake Mosley and Ben Vosse say Tackle Hunger reminders were all over the announcements this week. Plus, it's a part of their culture and curriculum.

"That's like a thing that we do at Althoff is we really talk about like, do what you can and help where you can help," Mosley said.

Operation Food Search collects and weighs those donations from each school on Fridays. KSDK will have the results tonight on our 10 PM sports "5 On Your Sideline".

A week from tonight it's Triad vs Mascoutah in Tackle Hunger. Those two schools will collect donated food items for Operation Food Search starting Monday.
