The big game is almost here and Americans are expected to consume 1.3 billion chicken wings and over 50 million cases of beer! To help manage spikes in demand on one of the biggest food consumption days of the year, food and beverage companies have been using AI to determine what will be popular, how much they need, and how to make sure it is in stock. Here with more is CEO of LLamasoft, Razat Gaurev.
Razat starts by saying that the big game day is the second largest food consumption day behind Thanksgiving. The average American will spend about $82.00 on food, beverages, and décor leading up to game day. There is a staggering surge in volume of items like wings, pizza, beer, and more. In order to have the inventory available, a lot of decisions have to be made and planning has to be done.
This is when data and AI algorithms comes into play to help make the most accurate decisions. Food and beverage companies don’t want to have too much and cause waste, or too little. Historical information is useful, but it is not enough on its own. Companies must look at shifts in the market and trends in consumer preferences.
