October is National Cybersecurity Awareness Month, and in today's world it is common to see a headline about a data breach or cyber scam. Ed Herman of Brown & Crouppen is here with some things we need to know.
Ed says that these kinds of scams and breaches happen every day. We know this happens, but can we do anything about it?
First, you want to protect your computer. This means making sure that your anti-virus software is up to date. Many of us stick with the software that came on our computers, but hackers are constantly evolving to stay ahead of the technology. This makes updating your software all the more important.
Next Ed recommends getting clever with your passwords. Have a schedule where you change them on a regular basis, and you need them to be complicated. Don’t just use your pet’s name and the year you were born. You want to choose something you can remember, but that someone else or even a computer program can’t easily figure out. It is also important to not use the same password for everything.

Changing topics a bit, BCTV had a great weekend! They are always encouraging people to go to their YouTube site, GETBCTV.com. This past weekend they were presented with two Emmy awards in Branson! One award was for the episode “Ed V. Airplanes” and the second for Terry’s Safety Squad, a cartoon for kids.
There is something on GETBCTV.com for everyone, and it is great quality, funny work!
