ST. LOUIS — Maybe, it’s the school bus on the roof. Maybe, it’s the pancake art on the walls. No matter their age, visitors of The City Museum tend to have as many questions as a kindergartner.
“The biggest question is, ‘How did this get here?’ which is a fair question because most of this doesn’t make any sense,” said Maria Cassilly. She isn’t a kindergarten teacher, but she answers as many questions as one does.
Starting in April, the City Museum will offer guided tours for the first time. Cassilly is the Chief Archivist, and she will be leading many of them. Her father-in-law, the late Bob Cassilly, was the founder of the museum. She knows all the ins and outs of the City Museum.
A group of builders and designers known as “The Cassilly Crew” is constantly working on the museum. One of the rules – there are no dead ends.
People on the tour will learn about the infant stages of the museum, how Bob Cassilly brought it to life, and how The Cassilly Crew never stops building.
Tours are $7 with general admission. After hours group tours also are available on request.
If you have questions, the City Museum has answers.
