ST. LOUIS — Thanksgiving was yesterday, and maybe you overdid. That's okay! Registered dietitian, Jennifer McDaniel shares her tips for fixing the Turkey Day regret.
Let it go:
It's over! While you might have felt really stuffed or uncomfortable yesterday, you’re fine now; you’re not stuffed anymore. The only thing that is likely causing you suffering is the thought that you should have done something differently. Be respectful to yourself and move on, and remember, you’re not the only one who overate…
Avoid restriction:
Don’t get caught up in the restrict/binge cycle. When we skip meals or eat very little to “make up” for overeating, it's a punishment that no one deserves. Plus, it will likely lead to increased hunger and potential overeating later. Just hop back into your regular routines.
Meal plan for the week ahead:
Since it’s Friday, Fridays are always a good time to meal plan for the next week. Think about your upcoming week and some meals you’re in the mood to enjoy. This action will help settle you into knowing you’ve got a weekend/week ahead of nourishing options.
