ST. LOUIS — Wednesday morning, artist and photographer, Tyler Small, joined Mary in studio to share about his recent pop-up exhibition, "Father Figures Heartfelt Legacies Exhibition." The pop-up is to raise funds and awareness for the Village PATH. While this is his first exhibit, he is no stranger to the cause. For the last 3 years in his effort to use his gift as an artist as a gift and appreciate the importance fatherhood and healing have had in his life, Tyler Small has partnered with the Village Path by offering portraits of Father Figures to raise funds to help support their mission “to increase awareness, access, and acceptance of mental wellness within Black communities”. This year, thanks to The Monaco, he will have his first exhibit displaying his works, including community members who are father figures in their loved ones' lives.
The Village Path non-profit organization envisions a world where Black self-identified men are holistically well. To that end, The Village PATH offers; free mental health counseling to Black men in the St. Louis area, the Healing and Writing Circle, and The Village ROPE (Rites of Passage Enrichment Program). The Father Figures event is a fundraiser to support the essential work of The Village PATH.
The exhibition runs through June 16th at The Monaco (2701 Cherokee Street). Admission is free, however, donations are encouraged. You can learn further information about the Village PATH here.
