ST. LOUIS COUNTY, Mo. — The holidays truly are about the spirit of giving! This past weekend, Mary Caltrider and I spent time at the Foster and Adoptive Care Coalition's 'Little Wishes' Shopping Day!
The gift giving event at Circle of Knowledge educational toy store in Sunset Hills, put a dent in more than 4,000 gifts needed for St. Louis children in foster care.
Donors first approached a Christmas tree inside the store and chose from one of several ornaments bearing a particular child’s preferences. 5 on Your Side and Show Me St. Louis staff members were there to show KSDK’s partnership with the Foster and Adoptive Care Coalition.
"We’ve been partnering with KSDK for a very long time. We’re very, very thankful for the way they’re able to spread our message and our mission. 38:15 And also come along side us in marketing and sharing about holiday," said Madison Brown of the Foster and Adoptive Care Coalition.
Henry Telfair is funding donations on behalf of his grandsons, Collin, Liam and Jackson.
"It’s a good life lesson for them to come down here and help others," he said.
Donors Sharon and David White said it feels good to lend a hand.
"Put a little joy, a little smile on their face. It brings joy to us," they said.
If you missed the in-store shopping day at Circle of Knowledge, it’s not too late.
