It's a musical inspired by the real-life Newsboys Strike in 1899.
"In this story Jack Kelly is this guy who wants a better life and he dreams of going to Santa Fe and he's the head of this group of boys until Pulitzer raises the prices for them and he takes the news boys and rallies them and takes down the big guy," explains Michael Gorman who plays three characters in Newsies.
It's a tale told through a lot of fancy footwork.
"There's a whole lot of dancing and it's very intense, athletic dancing," adds Alex Prakken, another cast member.
It's a skill this Burroughs grad, didn't feel too confident about at first.
"I'm a singer, actor first so when I first got here and saw some of this dancing I was like wait me, I'm supposed to do that?"
He managed to learn the steps. Michael Gorman, another St. Louis native, on the other hand, started his career as a dancer.
"I worked on the old Goldenrod Showboat and I worked at The Muny," Gorman says.
And even he's amazed by the moves. He actually auditioned for A Chorus Line here at the Fox.
"Oh yeah 1978 they picked me up and took me to Broadway and I haven't stopped working 40 years."
Newsies is Alex's first big job.
"I graduated in May, I moved to New York and about five days later got this job."
So they might be at different stages of their careers, but both are beyond excited to be home.
"I had never actually been on the stage before and looking out at this gorgeous theater it was surreal, it was surreal to say the least," Prakken says.
"It's still home and I still, sorry I still can't believe I do this for a living. I'm such a lucky guy," adds Gorman.
