Nearly 50% of survivors delay leaving their abusers because they don't want to leave their pets, The Women's Safe House has a solution

The nonprofit is welcoming 'The Pet Safe House' to their properties. Hear how you can name a Kennel, help their cause.

ST. LOUIS — The Women’s Safe House is the oldest and largest domestic violence shelter in the St. Louis region. TWSH provides women and children fleeing domestic and sexual violence a safe place to heal and rebuild their lives free from abuse. TWSH empowers women and families through emergency services, education, and advocacy.

1 in 3 Women have experienced physical violence from an intimate partner in their lifetime. Nearly 20 people per minute are abused by an intimate partner in the US. Missouri ranks 3rd in the nation for the rate of people who have experienced domestic violence. And now, the Women's Safe House is here to help even more survivors who might have a barrier holding them back.

To kick off Domestic Violence Awareness Month, TWSH is proud to introduce the Pet Safe House. Nearly 50% of survivors delay leaving their abusers because they don't want their pets to be left in a violent home, but most shelters don't allow or have the capacity to take in animals. In partnership with Purina and their Purple Leash Project, The Women's Safe House will be the first shelter in the St. Louis region to have accommodations for pets!

Construction for the Pet Safe House is in full swing! If you are interested in naming a kennel after your family, business, or even your pet - please contact McKenna at MNGUEPSI@TWSH.ORG for more information. Naming rights for The Pet Safe House is available. Contact McKenna for information.
