ELLISVILLE, Mo. — Courtney Colaneri from Ellisville has her hands full with making jewelry, as well as taking care of three kids all under three years old.
“It started where it was like they’d go to bed or nap time, and I’d just go let it all out in the basement and create. It’s a quiet, nice place to work and a nice little escape from the craziness of three toddlers,” Colaneri said.
Her business called Sunny + Luna launched one year ago. The seed for it was planted long ago.
“I guess I could say it started twenty years ago with my grandmother who taught me and my mom and my aunt how to make jewelry. When she passed away, I kind of stopped doing that.”
Last year, she picked it back up again.
“Someone at the grocery store sparked me. I saw this woman wearing this beautiful bracelet.”
That lit a fire inside of her.
“Then, it was just like this beast took over, and I could not stop. I was obsessed. It was such an outlet of creativity and just something that was mine.”
Her bracelets are statement pieces. She sells them on her website and around town at pop-up events.
“I like to focus on using really unique and unusual stones.”
Colaneri recently added rosary bracelets to her collection.
“My mom and I started researching it, and there’s not a single one out there that’s like this – the stretchy memory wire. I think I sold out three times. They have the Hail Mary’s, they’ve been blessed. They also have the cross, the Our Fathers. A lot of people were giving these as gifts, especially this kind of time of year, you know, with Confirmation and things like that happening.”
She also makes earrings, hats, and purses. Whatever it is, it’s sure to sparkle.
