ST. LOUIS — Many people may not know but, October is also Depression Awareness Month. According to the World Health Organization, "an estimated 3.8% of the population experience depression, including 5% of adults."
Depression can affect your day-to-day life, so it is important to be aware of the signs and symptoms of a depressive episode. Symptoms can vary from person to person. For example, some people might have trouble concentrating, while others may experience changes in appetite or weight.
In order to shed some light on the signs to look out for, our host Mary Caltrider sat down with Clinical Psychologist and CEO of Healing Spaces, Dr. Kezia Jackson.
Healing Spaces is a black and woman-owned group practice made up of caring, compassionate, and informed providers eager to help you meet your goals. Their specialties and services include psychological evaluations, therapy for black women, adults, children, and teens, and much more.
The organization is also offering an internship program to offer low-cost and accessible services to clients who need them. Viewers can book a free intake session with any of Healing Spaces interns between now and November 1st.
