Business travel stress is real, especially before the holidays. Now you can help manage stress on the road thanks to a new project, complete with therapy dogs. Instagram’s most followed veterinarian Dr. Evan Antin joins us along with Founder and CEO of Mindful living Network and The Stress Institute, Dr. Kathleen Hall.
Dr. Hall says that the Wednesday the week before Thanksgiving is the busiest business travel day of the year. 60% of business travelers will be traveling on that particular day. She is excited to partner with La Quinta because they truly champion the business traveler. They understand that a business traveler wants to be optimized, relaxed, and productive.
So, on November 20, La Quinta by Wyndham will launch Take a Paws Project at two hotels. One hotel is in New York, the other in Chicago, and they will have extended amenities. This includes weighted blankets, sound machines, fitness and meditation classes and pet therapy dogs in the lobby.
Dr. Antin joins us with his friend Bo, a sweet pet therapy dog. Talking about stress and with pets, research shows that the presence of a pet reduces stress. Simply petting a dog can reduce your cortisol, your primary stress hormone, and increase oxytocin which also has anti-stress effects. Business travelers have been polled, and agreed that petting a dog would lower their stress level and improve their productivity.
