ST. LOUIS — The Sophia Project Inc. will host its second annual St. Louis International Day of the Girl Weekend. This year will be a two-day event that combines International Day of the Girl and Self Care Saturday.
More than 300+ girls from the St. Louis Metropolitan area will gather for this two-day event of empowerment-building exercises, mental health conversations, and wellness activities.
The International Day of the Girl is observed annually on Oct 11. It is a global celebration of young girls and a public demonstration of support for policies that protect girls' civil rights in all aspects of life. This year's theme “The Future is For the Girls” will focus on making sure girls feel Protected, Respected, and Empowered in this ever-changing world.
Self-Care Saturday is a quarter initiative to illustrate the importance of self-care and movement to wellness. Saturday, Oct 12 they will engage girls and the women who support them to promote body positivity through movement and mindfulness.
The Sophia Project Inc.'s (TSP) mission is to engage, educate, and empower young women to make sound decisions, embrace personal awareness, and build healthy relationships.
