ST. LOUIS — The Hill is a special place. When the early immigrants of The Hill moved across the ocean they made family out of their neighbors. Setting the foundation for building a strong neighborhood. One that cares about and watches out for others. Behind these generations stood one woman.
Introducing Mary on the Hill! The book takes readers through photographs and heartwarming stories of immigrants who settled on the hill more than a century ago. By connecting their stories with statues of Mary, this heartwarming piece shows how people welcome one another as family.
Author Tracey Dunchinsky shares this book is an example of just how important neighbors can be to our story. Building grottos and displaying statues of Mary was one way for the families to share their faith with others and to create a sense of community around their beliefs.
