ST. LOUIS — St. Louis native and nationally renowned mural artist, Lisa Marie Thalhammer, is on a mission to connect all 50 states through love, rainbows, and murals.
Lisa's most recent rainbow Love Mural found a home at Platypus Bar in the Grove. The award-winning hotspot, owned by Netflix Drink Masters' Meredith Barry, was named named Best Underrated Bar in America just last year. Lisa and Meredith met last year and the two decided to team up on the project.
This project is part of the Regional Arts Commission's American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) mural program, which aims to revitalize public spaces and support artists following the pandemic's impact. After years creating murals across the country, Lisa is excited to bring her signature style and message of love to her hometown.
The mural was painted collaboratively with the community during a series of "paint by numbers" style events at Platypus, which took place July 17-21.
Lisa says this project is much more than just a beautiful artwork – it's a symbol of hope and resurgence for St. Louis. Barry believes the mural will draw visitors and locals together, fostering community spirit and economic recovery for both Platypus and The Grove.
Platypus is located at 4501 Manchester Ave, St. Louis, MO 63110.
There will be a ribbon cutting ceremony on Aug. 4 at 11:00 am.
