ST. LOUIS — At LeGrand’s Market and Catering in St. Louis Hills, you can find all sorts of local products on the shelves, but now there’s a new STL Made item in the freezer section.
Introducing Little Brother’s Pizza!
The Double Pepperoni Pizza is the creation of Jim LeGrand and his 'Little Brother', Jaxon Peer. As a mentor with Big Brothers Big Sisters of Eastern Missouri, Jim has been with Jaxon, for several years.
"He's always smiling or laughing and making jokes. And it's just, it's really nice to be around him. Because it brightens my day," Jaxon said.
"My worst fear was being matched up with a kid that wasn't like me, but that's when Big Brother's really does their job," LeGrand said.
It is a match made in heaven! Their journey over the past five years has led to adventures like fishing and hunting, and through this mentorship, Jim has taught Jaxon the ins and outs of owning a business.
"I wanted to explore options for what I want to do in college. And with Jim, he had so much experience with selling pizzas and sandwiches. I always saw the family business pizza places around St. Louis, and it inspired me to explore the business," Jaxon said.
After some business meetings with his Big Brother, Jaxon took his ideas to school. He interviewed about 20 classmates and brought his findings back to Jim.
"He interviewed them all about what's your favorite topping and everything else. So, they all came up with everyone wanted pepperoni and lots of cheese. So that's how we came up with the double pepperoni," LeGrand said.
And Little Brother’s Pizza was born!
