ST. LOUIS — Gondolas started to be installed on the St. Louis Ferris wheel at Union Station on Tuesday.
There will be 42 climate-controlled gondolas on the 200-foot-tall attraction.
The Ferris wheel will be open every day of the year and is scheduled to open in early October. An 18-hole mini-golf course and a carousel will also open in early October.
The gondolas are climate-controlled at a temperature of 72 degrees. Each gondola will hold eight passengers. One VIP gondola will have bucket seats and a glass floor. The ride will take approximately 15 minutes.
More than 1.6 million LED lights will allow the wheel to be illuminated in 16.7 million color combinations.
