ST CHARLES, Mo. — A family separated by the coronavirus still went out of their way to make sure their loved one felt special on his birthday.
Gabrielle Stahlschmidt recorded the special moment as she and the rest of her family surprised their grandfather Larry with a car parade on his 86th birthday.
"It’s my grandpa’s 86th birthday, and no quarantine was going to stop us from celebrating!" she wrote on Facebook Tuesday. "So we gathered family, taped signs to our cars, and set off for the surprise of the year!"
When Larry stepped outside, all of his family was there, honking and cheering him on.
"We all drove by and surprised him on the street, and he thought we were gonna forget his birthday," Gabrielle said in the video.
Gabrielle, a professional vocal teacher, led a rendition of "Happy Birthday" while her sister Abby Stahlschmidt, a professional music artist and model, played the electric violin.
Happy birthday, Grandpa Larry!
