WILDWOOD, Mo. — If you wanted to hit the slopes this weekend, you’re going to have to wait a bit longer.

Hidden Valley Ski Resort delayed its opening day due to the warm weather the St. Louis area has been experiencing lately. The resort was set to open for the season on Sunday.

Hidden Valley made the announcement on its social media pages last week. The resort said the delay includes tubing and tickets won’t be available until a new opening date has been announced.

The resort said it will make snow whenever it can. To make snow, the workers will feed compressed air and water into the snow-making machines. The machines propel that into the air, and it falls as snow. The goal is to always have a base of at least 12 inches.

Hidden Valley also gave an update on its COVID-19 protocols. Guests will be required to wear masks while indoors and proof of a COVID-19 vaccine is required while in dining areas.

“We can't wait to welcome back smiling faces to play in the snow,” the resort wrote on its Facebook page.

Hidden Valley said it will announce a new opening date soon.
