O'FALLON, Ill. — The City of O’Fallon will be holding a fireworks display on July 5.

The Fireworks Over O’Fallon event will be held at around 8:30 p.m. and fireworks will be launched near the west entrance of the O’Fallon Family Sports Park.

“Last year, we brought back fireworks for the first time in thirty years. Each year, we will continue to make them bigger and better!” said Mayor Herb Roach. “Members of the OTHS Band may be going around to see if people enjoying fireworks in the park would like to donate toward their trip to the Rose Bowl Parade, any contributions are greatly appreciated. I hope that all of you will join us in celebrating the holiday and enjoying the community.”

Spectators are asked to view the show from “safe and legal parking areas.” All paved parking lots in the Family Sports Park and Jesse Park will be open and there will be no parking in the grass or side of the road.

Park restrooms will be open during the event, but concession stands will not be open, according to a press release.

Parking will be prohibited on Venita Drive and Taylor Road. Venita Drive and the west entrance to the park will be closed to traffic about five minutes before the show begins and reopened when the show is over.

The city asked the public to adhere to social distancing and mask recommendations from the CDC and Illinois Department of Health due to COVID-19.
