Woman turns to surprise vacation company to visit 50 places she's never seen

The quick trip's a trend travel experts expect to see more of this year because travelers are becoming more conscientious.

Several surveys are suggesting many Americans will be taking some unique vacation trips this year. The trips are unique not only in where they'll go or how they'll get there, but who plans the vacation.

For turning 50 this year, former tv news producer Allison Andrews is treating herself by traveling to 50 places she's never been. To kick off her 50-for-50 travels, Andrews turned to the surprise vacation agency PackUpGo.com.

"Pack Up and Go is a travel agency that plans 3-day getaways around the United States,” said founder and CEO Lillian Rafson. “But the catch is that your destination is a surprise until the day you depart"

The quick trip's a trend travel experts expect to see more of this year because travelers are becoming more conscientious.

"So, we know that flying has a really big impact on the environment,” said Molly Fergus, the general manager of TripSavvy. “So, folks are looking to do buses and trains in ways that they can kind of slow down, even if they're not going quite as far."

Pack Up and Go's customers commonly drive to their surprise destination.

"It's encouraging travelers to visit a place they may not visit organically but they might fall in love with it," Rafson said.
