ST. LOUIS — The Saint Louis Zoo announced a new addition, a female Sichuan takin named Cornelia.
According to the zoo's Instagram page, Cornelia was born on Jan. 28. She is the zoo's first takin birth since 2016.
Sichuan takins are antelope-like goats and relatives of the musk ox. This particular species faces a high risk of extinction in the wild.
Cornelia is estimated to grow to 500 pounds over the next two years.
The zoo shared that Cornelia and her mom Dawn are doing well, recently taking their very first trip into the outdoor habitat.
You can find Cornelia in the zoo's Red Rocks habitat.
Update: Cornelia has recently climbed for the first time, according to the St. Louis Zoo.
