Chief Meteorologist Cindy Preszler, is an Emmy and Missouri Broadcaster's award winning meteorologist. She joined NewsChannel 5 in October of 1998 and continues to lead the weather department through the bistate area's best and worst weather.
Prior to joining KSDK-TV, Preszler was the weekday morning meteorologist for WMAQ-TV in Chicago, Illinois. She has also worked as chief meteorologist for WKYT-TV in Lexington, Kentucky and as an on-camera meteorologist for The Weather Channel in Atlanta, Georgia. She has also anchored in Savannah, Georgia.
Preszler holds a bachelor's degree from the University of South Dakota and also took meteorology classes from Mississippi State University.
During Preszler's many years of on-air experience, she covered the landfall of hurricane Hugo in Charleston, South Carolina and the San Francisco earthquake in 1989. Since living in St. Louis, tornadoes, winter storms, and climate change are now the main course.
Preszler holds seals with the American Meteorological Society (AMS) and National Weather Association (NWA). She also served on the AMS Broadcast Board and chaired the AMS Broadcast Conference in the 1990s. Preszler is a member of the International Association of Broadcast Meteorology.
Preszler has appeared as a fill in on both the "NBC Weekend Show" and "CBS This Morning". She has also been featured in an article for Sports Illustrated.
Preszler takes pride in her farming background and credits it for her interest in weather since she was a child. Cindy Preszler is married to Dave Mack, has two cats and currently resides in West County.
