Vatican upholds another All Things New closure

The Dicastery for the Clergy has rejected St. Paul parish in Berger's petition for hierarchical recourse.

ST. LOUIS — The Vatican on Tuesday announced another decision on the fate of a parish that appealed its closure under the Archdiocese of St. Louis' "All Things New" restructuring plan.

The Dicastery for the Clergy has rejected St. Paul parish in Berger's petition for hierarchical recourse. Under Archbishop Mitchell Rozanski's 2023 decrees, St. Paul was to be subsumed by Assumption parish in New Haven effective Aug. 1 of last year.

The following parishes still have appeals outstanding with the Vatican:

  • St. Bernadette
  • St. Agnes
  • St. Lawrence
  • St. Matthew
  • Our Lady of Sorrows

The Vatican has in recent months handed down several decisions on local parishes that appealed their closures, the most recent being St. Barnabas parish, which also had its petition rejected earlier in June.
