ST. LOUIS — The Vatican on Thursday announced two more decisions on the fate of parishes that appealed their closures under the Archdiocese of St. Louis' "All Things New" restructuring plan.
The Vatican's Dicastery for the Clergy upheld St. Louis Archbishop Mitchell Rozanski's decrees to close and merge St. Francis of Assisi parish in Luebbering and St. Catherine of Alexandria parish in Ste. Genevieve.
Under Rozanski's 2023 decrees, St. Catherine is merged with St. Joseph parish in Farmington, and St. Francis of Assisi is merged with St. Clare parish in St. Clair.
This comes after the Vatican's decision earlier this week to uphold the closure of St. Roch parish in St. Louis and to overturn decrees regarding St. Angela Merici in Florissant and St. Martin of Tours in Lemay.
The following parishes still have appeals outstanding with the Vatican:
- Our Lady of Sorrows;
- St. Bernadette;
- St. Agnes;
- St. Lawrence;
- St. Paul (Berger);
- St. Barnabas; and
- St. Matthew.
