GREENVILLE, Ill. - I have to confess I love small towns. I love the people and I love the food. I love Greenville, Illinois.
They have a cool university there where they teach the right life lessons. Their basketball team is one of the highest scoring programs in America.
Their basketball coach, George Barber, is one of the finest people I have met in sports. The President of the University, Ivan Filby, is just a thoughtful man who really cares about the students.
So while I was there doing a story on their basketball team, I stumbled across a restaurant called Mario’s. It was love at first bite. The family is from Sicily. In the old country, they care about each and every ingredient. Each meal is a dining experience and they want to make it special. They need to make it special and at Mario’s, they do make it special.
They don’t have bad pizza at Mario’s. If you get a chance, do it. Taste a real red sauce. Taste a crust that is made with love.
