ST. LOUIS — Home of the Hot Salami sandwich, St. Louis' own Gioia's Deli has provided yummy eats and happy, albeit full stomachs for a century. Thursday, the deli honors the multi-decade milestone, and they want you to be a part of the joyous celebration.
Beginning at 10 a.m. Thursday, each of three Gioia's Deli locations will be offering $5 Hot Salami sandwiches to any walk-in customer from open until close. Each customer is permitted one discounted sandwich.
Then, as part of the kick off for Gioia's Deli Summer Nights, the deli will hold a block party off Mackland Avenue in The Hill neighborhood. From 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday, partygoers can enjoy beer and wine, live music and retail along the street; Modern Brewery and Saint Ambrose Forever will be the beer vendors, and the Steve Ewing Band will supply the music.
Gioia's Deli Summer Nights, which runs each Thursday through August 30, plans to feature a different beer vendor and local musician. Additionally, the third Thursday of June, July and August will benefit a local charity.
