MISSOURI, USA — Firearm hunters will once again be allowed to hunt deer this weekend as the hunting season reopens on Saturday.
The November Portion of Missouri deer firearms season runs from Nov. 11 - 21. Only one antlered deer can be killed and/or harvested throughout all portions of the firearms season under Missouri law. Depending on the county, antler-point restrictions may also apply.
"The November Portion of our firearms deer season opens this weekend with many of Missouri’s 450,000+ deer hunters heading outdoors in the coming days," the Missouri Department of Conservation tweeted. "Be safe and good luck."
The department also offers numerous ways hunters can prepare their harvest with more than 30 venison recipes listed on its website. The recipes range from simple (Basic Venison Burgers, Venison Kabobs and Canned Venison) to more experimental.
One such recipe, with the tongue-in-cheek name of "Killer Calzone," notes venison's versatility in the kitchen, saying it can often be substituted for ground beef recipes.
"You'll end up with something delicious that's also low in fat," an MDC chef said.
The site also offers recipes for cheese-filled venison rolls, multiple different styles of jerky, and even venison dog biscuits for your trusty, furry hunting companion.
