FLORISSANT, Colo. — Old Town Donuts reopened Tuesday, less than a week after a roach infestation caused the business to temporarily close.
In a Facebook post that has more than 1,700 likes and 800 shares, the bakery said it was cleared by the St. Louis County Department of Health on Monday. The post said the bakery was going to "work through the night to stock up on plenty of donuts so we can be ready for the Halloween holiday."
The bakery was shut down by the health department last Wednesday due to a roach infestation. The bakery said the roaches came from a recently purchased piece of doughnut equipment.
"It's been discovered that there was a minimal interior area where a few unwanted guests were harboring," the bakery said in a post last week.
Before last week's closure, the bakery had a near-perfect score in its last two health inspections. According to online health records, the bakery was given a 99% in an inspection on May 17, 2021, and 98% in an inspection on Dec. 30, 2022.
In the post announcing the reopening, the bakery thanked the health department, its pest control partners and all its employees who helped make the closure short-lived.
Its also thanked all the customers who showed support through the closure.
"We appreciate all of you and we are looking forward to opening back up tomorrow morning at 5:00 a.m. to business as usual," the post on Monday said. "Thank you!"
St. Louis County Executive Sam Page on Tuesday posted a photo to Facebook of himself posing with a box of doughnuts from the bakery.
"Thank you to the Saint Louis County Department of Public Health for helping get Old Town Donuts back open so our community can enjoy this delicious North County staple!" Page wrote.
Old Town Donuts is located at 510 New Florissant Road and is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week. They also have a second location in Cottleville.
