ST. LOUIS — Independent Bookstore Day will be held on Saturday, April 27, and bookstores around the St. Louis area are celebrating.
The national one-day celebration is held on the last Saturday in April each year. The day celebrates independent bookstores across the country, both online and in-store.
The American Booksellers Association started the celebration back in 2013 and this year will celebrate its 11th anniversary.
Many bookstores across the St. Louis region are celebrating big and small. Here's where you can celebrate:
The Metro East bookstore will celebrate IBD on Saturday with a Spring Sidewalk Sale, a chance to meet dozens of local authors and readers will have a chance to win some fun, bookish goodies.

The Webster Groves bookstore will have giveaways, raffles and crafts for all ages on Saturday! There are scheduled events throughout the day including coffee and hot chocolate and storytime, crafting and wine tasting and live music.

A miniature version of Leviathan Bookstore will open on Independent Bookstore Day! It will open inside Dunaway Books (3111 S. Grand Blvd.) as an ongoing pop-up retailer.
Readers can enjoy IBD and Dunaway's anniversary from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., with food, refreshments and live music from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.

On Saturday, Main Street Books in St. Charles, Missouri, is inviting bookworms to celebrate Indie Bookstore Day. Special merchandise will be available for sale. Customers will have a chance to pick up a free blind date, purchase a book and receive one mystery book, according to the bookstore.
For the artsy readers, crafts will also be on hand.

On Saturday, Neighborhood Reads in Washington, Missouri, will host a full day of activities for book lovers to enjoy.
All day, there will be a downtown scavenger hunt, book chalk, a giveaway and a chance to spin a wheel for prizes. There will also be storytime at 11 a.m. and face painting for kids from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
