2 St. Louis holiday displays are in the running for best in the country

ST. LOUIS — Two St. Louis holiday light displays are up for national recognition, and they need your help to claim the top spot. 

Garden Glow at Missouri Botanical Garden and U.S. Bank Wild Lights at Saint Louis Zoo are nominated in two categories in the USA Today 10Best Readers' Choice Awards. 

Garden Glow is up for best botanical garden holiday lights. A panel of experts selected 20 nominees for the award. 

"Garden Glow at Missouri Botanical Garden features nearly 2 million lights spread across dazzling displays," USA Today said. "From mid-November through early January, visitors can enjoy the stunning illuminated gardens, and through mid-December, they can take in roaming caroler performances and meet Santa Claus on select nights."

Other nominations include botanical garden light displays in California, Maine and Florida.

The U.S. Bank Wild Lights at the zoo are also up for an award for best zoo lights. A panel also selected 20 nominees for the award. 

"While bathed in the glow of over a million holiday lights, guests of the Saint Louis Zoo during its annual U.S. Bank Wild Lights event enjoy a stroll through a number of unique light displays, including Celebration City and Snowy Savanna, twinkling tunnels, and a 40-foot lighted tree," USA Today's nomination said.

Nominations include zoos from Indiana, New York and Texas.

Vote for the St. Louis displays once per day until voting ends at 11 a.m. CT on Wednesday, Nov. 29. Winners will be announced on Friday, Dec. 8.
