ST. LOUIS — Saturday marks 20 years since America was attacked on our own soil.
But while ground zero for the terror of Sept. 11, 2001, is nearly a thousand miles away, there are pieces from that day in the Bi-state area.
There are memorials with plaques retelling the events of the day. The impact of the attack is vivid at the locations which have ripped and rusted pieces of steel from the collapsed World Trade Center.
Some of the pieces weigh multiple tons. There are also written words remembering and honoring the victims.

Another large display in the St. Louis area is the Flags of Valor on Art Hill in Forest Park. More than 7,000 American flags cover the iconic hill. Each flag represents a first responder killed on 9/11 or a military hero killed in action since that fateful day.
