ST. LOUIS — The 22-year-old, St. Louis-based Chef Juwan Rice appeared on the Food Network's cooking competition "Chopped" on Tuesday night.
He competed against three other chefs from across the U.S. The competitors were tasked with creating a dish using a basket of mystery ingredients for each round.
Rice cut his finger during the competition and was eliminated by the judges.
"The support I received since announcing chopped has been extremely amazing! Over 1.3 million people got to watch a young Black guy from STL cook and tell his story on national television. A full hour of airtime … That still feels so unreal to me," Rice posted on Facebook Wednesday.
Rice is the founder of JRice Spice Company, JRs Gourmet, Rated Test Kitchen and Rated Cafe. He is also a collaborator at Hi-Pointe Drive-In.
Rice once appeared on Food Network's "Guy's Grocery Games" in 2021.
"I hope I represented STL the right way, but more importantly, I hope I was able to inspire someone," Rice wrote.
