25 over $1 million: The highest-paid St. Louis hospital system executives

The Business Journal analyzed tax filings from the major hospital networks in the St. Louis region to determine the highest-paid hospital executives in the region.

Executives at SSM Health, Mercy, BJC HealthCare, HSHS St. Elizabeth's Hospital and St. Anthony's make seven figures.

All 25 of the highest-paid employees at St. Louis' hospital networks make above $1 million. Of the highest-paid 253 employees, the average salary was $584,398. The median salary for those was lower at $451,348.

The Business Journal analyzed tax filings from the major hospital networks in the St. Louis region to determine the highest-paid hospital executives in the region. Some of these tax filings were from 2014; some were from as recent as 2015. Each fiscal year is indicated in the searchable database below.

The major networks included: BJC HealthCare, SSM Health, Mercy, Hospital Sisters Health System, St. Luke's Episcopal-Presbyterian Hospitals, Memorial Regional Health Services Inc., Southwestern Illinois Health Facilities Inc., The Sisters of the Third Order of St. Francis and SIHF Healthcare. Those Form 990s provided the salaries for 253 hospital employees. Hospitals are only required to disclose the salaries of members of the board of directors or managing staff members.
