ST. LOUIS — FedEx Corp. (NYSE: FDX) plans to close a facility in Earth City, impacting up to 125 workers there.
The closure of the FedEx Ground SmartPost facility, located at 13679 Rider Trail North, would come around May 2, the company said in a letter to the state of Missouri. A company tied to Pacific Acquisitions of Alaska owns the property.
A FedEx spokesperson didn't immediately respond to a request for comment.
The Memphis company said in the letter that it "continually evaluates its network to ensure it is in the best possible position to meet industry and customer needs."
"In light of current market dynamics and the growth of e-commerce, FedEx Ground is transforming its operations in many ways, including the integration of package volume in certain areas," the letter said. "As part of the referenced transition, FedEx Ground will redirect packages from this facility to other Ground locations."
