ST. LOUIS — The owners behind three restaurants on Morgan Ford Road announced Wednesday they will be closing their doors permanently.
"The decision did not come lightly," the announcement said. "It came after years, months and days of conversation, reflection and trying to figure out how to make this work."
The restaurants - Black Sheep (3153 Morgan Ford Road), Three Little Monkeys (3172 Morgan Ford Road, Suite A) and Mama 2's Biscuits (3151 Morgan Ford Road) - will close after finishing service this weekend, owners Zach and Mary Rice said in the announcement.
While the owners were able to keep the businesses afloat following the pandemic, renovations, rebranding and expansion to another location, "the costs of operations are extremely high and unforgiving, all while the economy and dining habits have changed and no longer align with what we need to open doors every day," the owners said.
For the rest of the week, Three Little Monkeys will be open for to-go, delivery and carry-out orders only from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Thursdays through Saturday and from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday. Black Sheep will be open from 3-11 p.m. through Saturday, with the bar open later. Lastly, Mama 2's Biscuits will be open from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday and from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday.
The owners hinted this might not be their last business venture and thanked their customers for years of supporting them.
"This isn't goodbye for us - but more of a see you later," the announcement said. "Our employees, customers and all of the people we met in our six years of owning a restaurant on Morgan Ford (and the 17 that we have spent working on the street ... Thank you for letting us be a part of your lives. Thank you for letting us feed you, serve you a beer and celebrate with you."
