ST. LOUIS — A St. Louis woman is dedicating her life to making people feel good.
Candice Dorsey opened 220 Eye Candy Beauty Bar on Saturday. The new beauty bar and spa's mission is to empower young people and build self esteem.
Dorsey offers clients a private yoni steam chairs and a range of services such as lash extension and teeth whitening.
"I started off doing lash extensions, and as much as I enjoyed that, I also wanted to learn more in the field. I went to school to become an esthetician and opened up my beauty bar," Dorsey said.
The esthetician incorporates Dorsey's Romans 12 Outreach Ministry into the business model. The ministry provides counseling services and engages in various outreach and community service works. This unique approach sets this beauty bar apart as a hub for both beauty and community support.
In a bid to uplift the younger generation, Dorsey offers classes to teenagers such as Taylor Owens,17.
"I've learned a lot about partnership, how to do lash extensions, and how to actually map out what you're doing."
The Beauty Bar doesn't just focus on the craft; it also aims to help teens become entrepreneurs.
"We're going to teach them how to start their business, help them get their documents filed with the IRS and with the SOS, and guide them in setting up a bank account, "Dorsey said. The goal is to equip young individuals with the tools they need to succeed in the beauty industry and beyond.
To further support her mission, Dorsey donates 10% of sales at Eye Candy Beauty Bar to Romans 12 Ministry. These funds are dedicated to financing classes for young adults and teens aged 16-21.
With an eye on expanding her impact, Dorsey plans to open a larger location in the Hazelwood area in 2024. This expansion will allow more classes and provide even greater opportunities for young individuals to learn, grow, and succeed.
